Flex Training

Adobe Flex 4 is a cross-platform development framework for creating rich Internet applications (RIAs). Flex enables you to create expressive, high-performance applications that run identically on all major browsers and operating systems.

Highlander has been involved with Flex since the beginning and was the first UK company authorised by Macromedia (now Adobe) to offer Flex training courses. Our Flex courses are all available for delivery at your own location, and are targeted at groups of between 3 and 10 delegates. Our current Flex curriculum includes:

Flex 4.5 Mobile Development

Flex Mobile Development is a 3-day course that provides Flex 4 or 4.5 developers with the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to start building mobile applications for Android, iOS and Tablet OS. The primary focus of the course is smart phone development, but also includes introductory information for deploying to tablets.

Flex 4: Developing Rich Client Applications
This is a 3 day course which provides experienced application developers with hands-on, practical experience using Flex. This three day course introduces developers to all the primary features of Flex they'll need to know in order to build a fully functional, well architected front end for a Rich Internet Application (RIA), and is an ideal starting point for anybody moving into Flex.

Flex 4 & LiveCycle Data Services: Integrating with Data and Messaging
Flex and LiveCycle Data Services: Integrating with Data and Messaging is a 2 day course which provides experienced application developers with hands-on, practical experience connecting their Flex client applications to remote, dynamic data using LiveCycle Data Services.

    Flex 4: Building Dashboard Applications
This course provides developers with the knowledge needed to use Flex charts to create highly interactive dashboards for data visualisation. By the end of the course, developers will be able to create interactive dashboards by leveraging the Flex framework and the Flex charting components. They will learn about using, formatting and styling Flex charts as well as creating interactive charts and dynamically controlling chart data. Developers will also have the opportunity to discuss conceptual topics for dashboard creation and usability. You should take this course if you are a Flex programmer who needs to provide data visualisation in your Flex applications.

Flex 4: Extending and Styling Components
This is a 2 day course which teaches delegates how to use their object-oriented skills to create custom classes that programmatically draw skins and extend the functionality of built-in Flex classes. Experienced Flex developers will have an opportunity to explore hands-on, practical code examples for creating drag-and-drop user interfaces that also incorporate user-triggered transitions and smart components that resize based on available space.
