InDesign Training - InDesign CS3 Essentials

Our InDesign CS3 training is a blended learning solution which combines our 2 day instructor led InDesign CS3 Essentials training course, with 6 months access to our Learning Management System (LMS) including the InDesign CS3 training slides and demos, course discussion forums, extensive glossary, additional exercises and samples, and other online learning support.

The 2 day InDesign CS3 Essentials course is run monthly at our London centre or available at your own location, and is a great way to get up and running with InDesign CS3. The course is suitable for anybody new to InDesign CS3.

 

Objectives

  • Identify and use InDesign® environment elements; and navigate through an InDesign® document.
  • Create and modify text and graphic frames; and import text and images from other applications.
  • Use master pages and guides to design a document's layout and to add automatic page numbering; and apply masters to document pages.
  • Import text; thread text throughout a document; reflow text threads; and change the number of columns.
  • Define colors and swatches and apply them to fills and strokes of frames.
  • Apply character formatting; apply paragraph formatting; create styles to streamline formatting; and set text inset spacing.
  • Place and manipulate graphics; control text wrap around graphics; and create and manage layers.
  • Apply transparency effects to native objects and placed images and graphics; and work with Transparency Flattener settings.
  • Create sophisticated tables.
  • Prepare documents for handoff to commercial printers.
  • Create Acrobat PDF files for the Web and for print.

Course slides, movies and exercises: You will have 6 months post course access to course slides, movies and exercises via our Learning Management System (LMS). Refresh your memory or rework something in your own time and environment.

6 Months Post Course Support: You will have 6 months post course support via the LMS. This is in the form of the course forums in which you can post questions on any topic within the course that you are struggling with, and the instructor (and sometimes other delegates) will respond.

Additional Sample Files: In addition to the files used in the course, the LMS gives you the ability to work through additional sample files, and real world examples thereby extending both your understanding of InDesign CS3 and your ability to apply the techniques.

InDesign CS3 Glossary: The InDesign CS3 training glossary allows you to search through a wide range of InDesign CS3 terms, functions, data types etc. Due to the glossary being autolinked within our forums and other material, this also acts as a valuable quick reference directory when working through the material.

InDesign CS3 Skills Assessment: As part of the course you will also have the opportunity to take the InDesign CS3 Skills Assessment test. This multiple choice test is made up of 36 random questions, and is run over a timed period of 30 minutes. It is designed to give you an idea of how well your InDesign CS3 skills are developing and can be a nice way to measure improvement, not to mention provide feedback to management showing the value of the course.
